Characteristics properties

A characteristics property encapsulates any number of related on-off attributes. Using the characteristics property edit window, you can add, remove, rename, and change the value of the characteristics in a property.

Adding a characteristic

To add a characteristic to a property,

• Open the edit window for the characteristic property as described in Editing a property's value.
• Choose Create Characteristic from the Object menu.

The characteristic is added to the property's display and remains selected.

Removing a characteristic

To remove a characteristic from a property,

• Open the edit window for the characteristic property as described in Editing a property's value.
• Select the characteristic you want to remove.
• Choose Clear from the Edit menu or press Delete.

The characteristic is removed.

Renaming a characteristic

To change the name of a characteristic,

• Select the characteristic you want to edit.
• Move the cursor out of the name or press Return. An edit property is created with the text of the name.
• Type the new name for the characteristic and click anywhere outside the edit property or press Return.

The characteristic is renamed.

Changing a characteristic's value

To change the value of a characteristic,

• Click in the space to the left of the name of the characteristic.

The value of the characteristic is changed; when a characteristic is on, a checkmark '' is displayed.
